John R. Neill — The Emerald City of Oz
John R Neill Oz illustrations=automatic reblog
You know, Nat has naturally red hair.
And she likes the snow, but she loves the rain.
She likes to lay in bed on rainy mornings.
She has this spot on the back of her neck she likes me to rub.
And she particularly enjoys candle light.
And she likes to dance, but not when anyone is watching.
And when she is feeling tired and down, she likes to lay her head in my lap.
And she sings Russian songs, and I don’t understand them but I still love to listen.
I have been working on it for a while… finally finished it up today.
Now back to commissions!
This is so freakin’ AMAZING. Love every one of them.
Awesome work is awesome. I love when my fanboyishness exposes me to someone really talented who I never would have otherwise known existed.
I am unsure that I got all the subject/verb agreement right in that sentence.
Anyway, thanks for doing it again, tumblr!
For today’s May Day posting, we present several more cartoons from the 1935 Great Depression I book, The Ruling Clawss, collecting artist Syd Hoff‘s (under his pseudonym “A. Redfield“) cartoons published in The Daily Worker. Enjoy

Sigh. So much effort put into the art…
So little put into spell checking…
On a related note, I swear recruting will be the deaht of me.
What was your dream job as a child?
Sincere Answer: Crane Operator. “Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel” was kinda’ a big deal to me!
Ag Style Answer: Ironically, I always dreamed of being able to do your mom. Funny. Now it’s become more of a chore.
